2011 Chrysler 200 Limited
Write ups and car reviews aren't really my thing, I leave that up to Justin Pritchard. I just take the photos, and luckily they speak for themselves. Tonight's subject, the 2011 Chrysler 200 Limited.

Weekend Stargazing
This weekend I had the opportunity to go shoot star trails not once with my brother, but twice. Our first venture into the cold took us to Lawson Quarry, near Whitefish Falls, Ontario. Although driven from the spot we were most interested in simply by inaccessibility, we found a location that would work and set up before too late in the night. The results? See below.
Our next attempt involved picking up a friend and colleague, Gerry Kingsley of gkphoto.ca and heading north of the city to a mostly abandoned railway, logging, and mining townsite, Milnet.

2011 Lexus IS350 AWD - Experimental
Another attempt to mix stars and cars. Better results than the first try, if I do say so myself. Subject is a 2011 Lexus IS350. Taken by the Stinson hydro-electric dam.

Brad and Jess - An Engagement
Over the weekend I was given the honour of shooting an impromptu engagement session with some old friends. Brad and Jess were incredibly easy to work with, and although the cold weather kept our session short, we ended up with some terrific frames. Congrats again guys!

Travel Photography - Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
I'll admit, I'm going back a couple of years for these images, but who doesn't enjoy seeing warm tropical places right at the tail end of a long cold winter? Just let them take you somewhere that isn't buried in snow for a while, and let it be an exercise in healing visualization. You'll forgive the length of this post I hope, there was a lot to see and do!
Our guide through the favellas, his name eludes me at the moment. |
The view from Sugar Loaf, looking down on Rio. |
Natalie with her new friend! The happy care-free look on her face always makes me smile in spite of myself. |
Love the bokeh on this frame. |
Some of the local architecture. |
Our roaming through the national park at Iguassu Falls took us down some beautiful paths, this leg of the hike was probably my favourite. |
Our day started with cool temperatures, cloudy skies, and rain, but shortly after we reached the mouth of the falls, the sun broke through the clouds and we ended up with a beautiful afternoon. |
Some of the local wildlife at the falls. |
One of my favourite frames from the trip. |

2011 Hyundai Equus
My most recent automotive shoot was Hyundai’s new flagship luxury sedan, the Equus. It's goal is to offer an unparalleled level of refinement and performance. This all new model has a target demographic of consumers who are in the market for a car with similar features but a much heftier price tag.
The Equus comes equipped with a 385 hp V8 engine coupled with a 6-speed ZF® transmission. This combination offers a high level of performance while keeping fuel economy to at least average levels of consumption. It may be worth noting that Hyundai's new Tau® V8 was named one of the “10 best engines” in the world by the authoritative auto industry journal, Ward’s.
The Equus' styling is representative of the level of performance and luxury that it offers. A sharp look incorporates custom badging and decals on the hood, wheels, and trunk lid. It has an aggressive stance for being such a large sedan, and sweeping lines draw your eye to just the right areas.
But enough of my own opinions, I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Nikki - A Business Portrait
Despite my tendencies to only shoot night scenes and automotive content, I will on the odd occasion shoot portraiture and thoroughly enjoy doing so. Nikki was an engaging subject, full of personality and more than a few laughs. The camera loves her and it shows in the finished product. As a real estate agent, her clients need to see from her picture that she is someone that they can trust, someone who is knowledgeable, friendly, easy to work with, but who will also ensure that their interests are looked after. If you are in the market to buy or sell a home, follow this link for more information!
Introduction to Night Photography
Here is an incredible video, showing how and why night photography can be so alluring. I can relate very easily to these guys, and I have experienced first hand how spending hours to learn a scene can result in improving your craft.

Northern Lights and a Rotating Sky |
Here we are, a new blog, first post.
I've often thought of starting a blog, somewhere to jot down some of the disconnected thoughts or ideas that seem to dart aimlessly through my head. Most times they vanish without a trace, leaving me feeling like I've missed something that could be important. So this will be their new home.
Rambling thoughts aside, I will be using this as a showcase of some of my photography work. I'm known mostly for two things, as my cousin Eric so succinctly stated; stars and cars. You can of course expect to see more here, as I dabble in portraiture, landscape and fine art photography as well.
Here is a sampler to start things off.
